Themes of Wes Moore

The memoir, The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore, touches upon a number of themes that still ring true in our society today.  After finding lines that “speak to you” and thinking about how they connect, you are to craft a paper around the theme that spoke to you the most.  You will be writing a research paper on this theme and how it influenced the success and failure of each Wes as well as how that theme is continuing to impact our society today.  SHOW me how this theme is true and how it presents itself in each Wes’s life.  Remember, most of the themes we have discussed are very broad and your task is to look at and discuss your theme with a more specific lens. For example, if the impact of role models is your theme, what is it about the role models in their lives that helped or hurt each?  Which role model had an impact and why?  Do role models need to be alive in order to have a continued impact on one’s life?

Also, you need to incorporate outside research to support the claim you are making.  We will be attending an information literacy session where Madel will show you how to use the databases to find research supporting and extending your understanding of the chosen theme.  You must use this research in your paper in order to demonstrate the importance of and continued impact of these issues in relation to society as a whole.

The paper is to be four pages in length plus a Works Cited page.  As always, MLA format and care with grammar and mechanics are important.
